This job position reports to the Quality Control Director of Engineering and involves recommending new product designs or modifications to existing products. The aim is to increase performance or develop new products that meet customers' needs as defined by the Sales or Marketing Departments. The role involves communicating design changes with suppliers, conducting tests to validate products, ensuring performance targets are met, creating drawings, and revising existing drawings. Additionally, the job includes assisting, training, and coaching new employees on various Engineering tools and software needed to ensure they are successful in their duties.
This position is based at the Company’s Anaheim, California headquarters.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assisting in the development of new and existing products, leading short and long-range planning in collaboration with the leadership team and corporate strategy, and determining project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
- Assist with creating and implementing a roadmap for product development and management, overseeing the full project lifecycle.
- Assist with meeting Operational Goals and Metrics for product development, production, and future product line growth to align with overall EMPI / EMG business strategies.
- Make recommendations for new products and modify the existing product line to add performance or features desired by our customers.
- Revise and create CAD drawings to communicate with suppliers.
- Look for ways to improve quality, maximize project efficiency and profitability, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintains engineering documents, schedules, coordinates, and monitors engineering projects while keeping files updated as per departmental procedures.
- Provide training and documentation support for entry-level interns and engineers when needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by upper management to support product development and management within the company. Identify project responsibilities and delegate phases and elements to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree required, minimum of 2 years vintage VW / automotive and hi-performance product development and commercialization is preferred.
- Experience with Product Development/Management in an organization producing, marketing, and selling research reagents; experience with diagnostic products is a plus.
- Excellent written and communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and high attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and technical knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and production techniques
- Thorough understanding of testing protocols, product integrity requirements, product cycle timeline, and automotive component construction
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
