What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Employbridge?
ResourceMFG is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant for our NW Houston client (area: Hwy 290 & Hollister)
Pay will depend on experience.
This position provides a wide variety of accounting and analytical support to various departments and management. Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems. Must be able to interact with staff at all levels and be proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
- Implement, monitor, and maintain standard costing through consistent processes and procedures.
- Establish a strong relationship with Manufacturing/Engineering/Purchasing departments to assist with router and BOM development and cost improvement reviews.
- Ensure guidance from and compliance with global standard costing protocols, as determined by the CFO and Corporate Controller.
- Assist the corporate headquarters in driving regional adoption of best practices around pricing reviews, new product cost estimations, targeting profitability improvements and inventory controls.
- Drive continuous improvements with Manufacturing Operations, in the following key areas:
- • Investigating variances to standard/budget/prior year
• Production effectivity analysis
• Product Line full-system margin analysis
• Inventory monitoring and control
• Support of Service Operations (e.g., analysis of rental and service pricing)
• Capital investment decisions - Drive continuous improvement in data integrity and use of our standardized processes and systems.
- Assist in the ongoing preparation toward and implementation of the next generation
ERP system. - Assist Manufacturing Operations and the Corporate Controller in budgeting and forecasting
future period performance. - Assist the CFO and Corporate Controller with strategic price-cost reviews, as needed and
directed. - Prepare summary reporting to management, giving confidence that KPIs and processes are
working as intended, and recommending improvement actions where they are not. Drive
accountability through to full execution and resolution, in partnership with Operations.
Education/Experience Requires Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in accounting from four-year college or university and two to five years related experience doing similar work.
Must be familiar with cost accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
Must be able to adapt to various software, operational and managerial differences among various locations.
