Salary: $71,453/annually

Reports to: Accounting Manager


Essential Functions

  • Performs advanced and specialized accounting assignments, involving complex and confidential data.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare/support entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, including documentation of business transactions.
  • Coordinates monthly close activities of approximately 6 accounting personnel and ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial positions.
  • Directly supervises the accounts payable function including weekly review for proper coding to accounts and adherence to company internal control procedures.
  • May provide special project assistance to the Accounting Manager.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions withing designated limits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Coordinates implementation and documentation of accounting systems and accounting process procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and external audit schedules.
  • Compiles, reviews, and analyzes payroll information to ensure proper recording of related financial transactions.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate complex and/or sensitive information in a clear, concise, diplomatic, and professional manner.
  • Ability to use Sage Intaact or similar accounting software; fixed assets applications, payroll systems, database software and Association Management System software preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, executives and staff.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university and at least five years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • The individual must live in or around the Denver (Colorado) metro area for occasional commutes to the corporate office location. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or or Masters in Business in Administration.
