General Operator – West Jordan, UT
Employment Solutions is currently seeking a General Operator to work for a global multi-billion-dollar Consumer Packaged Goods company in West Jordan, UT. This is a short-term contract opportunity. Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. Pay rate is $20.00/hour.
Position Overview:
The General Operator supports the Engineering & Packaging department in the manufacturing plant.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, and follow prescribed safety and quality regulations
- Must be familiar with basic machine functions
- Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regards to daily duties
- Follow written and approved work instructions
Essential Skills:
- Ability to train & operate powered industrial equipment and navigate in tight spaces and high traffic areas
- Ability to use a computer, have basic math skills and good communication skills
- Encompass strong attention to detail, and good mechanical aptitude
- Ability to perform physical demands in a fast-paced environment working up to 12-hour shifts
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Must have the ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical Demands:
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands, tools or controls; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and/or smell
- Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head
- Must be able to regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting of 10 lbs. up to 50 lbs. and occasional team lifting above 50 lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
- Ability to frequently stand on a concrete surface for 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts
- Occasionally may need to climb on stairs, step ladders or a stool
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and may be exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
