Job Posting for Financial Analyst at Empower Federal Credit Union
Role: Assist in the preparation
of the annual budget and quarterly rolling forecasts of the credit union and
CUSO. Design, develop and prepare
monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis that illustrates credit union
performance compared to budgets and forecast by working closely with various
departments to understand changes and trends that impact the organization.
Assist in the identification of key trends and potential risks and
opportunities. Support the Senior Financial Analyst in business performance
monitoring and analysis as well as quarterly peer analysis and reporting.
Support the VP/Controller and SVP/CFO with management, Board, and Committee
report analysis and trend analytics reporting. Also assists with the monthly
accounting close, as needed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
25% Coordinate
the operations of the Credit Union’s financial planning and forecasting,
including the design, development, compilation, and analysis of financial
performance, trends, consolidated budgets, and quarterly rolling forecasts.
Recommend actions to improve performance and identify risks and opportunities.
20% Prepare
consolidated budgets and forecasts and analyze trends in revenue, expense,
capital expenditures, and other related areas.
15% Perform
budget-to-actual-to-forecast reviews and provide financial and business-related
analysis and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate
of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments to the VP/Controller
and SVP/CFO on results and future expectations.
10% Responsible
for special financial and business-related studies and cooperates with other
departments in preparing analyses.
10% Responsible
for the preparation of quarterly forecast expectations for presentation to
Senior Management.
5% Work with
auditors/examiners on annual audits and regulatory examinations.
5% Contribute
to the monthly close of the Credit Union’s financials to ensure complete,
accurate, and timely completion of financial and accounting records.
5% Support the
activities of the VP/Controller and SVP/CFO.
5% Perform
other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related
experience.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is
required. Cost Accounting experience is desirable.
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are
essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others
inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining
information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills: Functional with spreadsheets and word
processing software. Financial Services industry experience beneficial.
