Vault Supervisor

Description

Position Summary:  
Supervises a staff of direct report teller personnel in Empyreal’s Cash Processing Department. Schedules and assigns daily work assignments and monitors operations to ensure duties are performed accurately, in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. Ensures the appropriate circulation of a significant value of currency/coin inventory to meet the needs of Empyreal’s clients during normal operations and contingency events. Develops and recommends work methods to maximize operational efficiency. Maintains working knowledge and ensures proper application of all Cash governing procedures including Custody Control Standards, Treasury Currency Operational Manual, District Procedure Manual, and other Cash governing documents. The level of work is considered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. This job has direct reports.


 

Responsibilities and Duties include, but not limited to: 

• Demonstrates effective supervisory skills by acting in a manner that portrays Empyreal's vision, values and WOW culture; establishes respect for everyone, fosters an environment that builds and sustains productive relationships; addresses conflict respectively and constructively; and works in partnership within and across workgroups. 
• Provides effective day-to-day supervision of teller personnel. 
• Supervises the processing of all incoming and outgoing currency. Schedules employees, determines priorities, assigns work, controls workflow, and resolves problems and bottlenecks. 
• Follows Standard Operating Procedures 
• Adheres to dual verification requirements and complies with regulatory requirements. 
• Notifies manager of delays, issues, unusual circumstances, and other important information in a timely manner. 
• Ensures that all Federal Reserve Deposits are prepared to standard and documentation is correct. 
• Supervises daily balancing of vaults and maintains vault limit thresholds. 
• Supervises each teller’s daily reconciliation. 
• Monitors teller staff and provides feedback and guidance. 
• Assists staff with locating cash discrepancies and more complex tasks. 
• Investigates, reports, and resolves variances and operating issues and notifies appropriate managers. 
• Ensures team operates efficiently and produces high quality work. 
• Reviews timecards. Tracks and addresses attendance issues directly with employees. 
• Assists with the development and implementation of processes and procedures. 
• Ensures staff is aware of and follows all policies and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements and security protocol. 
• Participates in the hiring and onboarding of new tellers. 
• Trains, cross-trains, and develops employees. 
• Addresses performance, personnel, and personal conduct issues and coaches and disciplines employees as appropriate. 
• Evaluates staff’s performance and conducts performance reviews. 
• Makes recommendations pertaining to employee status changes. 
• Maintains vault records and completes audits and reports. 
• Travels as requested to assist with the setting up of new locations, employee training, filling in for others, and performing other assignments. 
• Adheres to the Empyreal Credit Card Policy. 
• Understands all travel tickets, unless an emergency takes place, are to be completed by the Office Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager or Regional Branch Manager only. 
• Ensures to stay within the hotel cost allowance of $80-$180, per night. If there are extenuating circumstances requiring a more expensive hotel, you must email your Supervisor or Manager for written approval, prior to making the hotel reservation. 
• Fills in for tellers and other personnel, as needed. 
• Performs other duties and projects, as assigned. 

Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent education is desirable. 
• Three or more years of related experience within a bank, credit union, or cash handling environment is preferred along with two or more years of experience supervising a team of tellers and/or vault personnel is required. 
• Excellent analytical, math skills, and accuracy are essential. 
• Must possess solid written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and banking database systems is required. 
• Familiarity with computerized timekeeping systems and cash processing equipment is preferred. 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, as needed. If any items for lifting purposes, are more than 50 lbs., seek support for lifting from a team member. 
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and shift work, as needed. 
• Approximately 10% travel is required.
