Eastern Metal Recycling (“EMR”) is well positioned as one of the Eastern USA’s leading metal recyclers with over 20 operating sites in the Philadelphia, Camden and surrounding areas of NJ, PA, DE, NY and CT. The Company employs nearly 400 employees and is a full service scrap recycler of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, providing service to manufacturers, demolition contractors and recycling yards in the East Coast. EMR operates 4 port sites with deep vessel loading and shipping to international markets that support the sale of metal recycled through local operating facilities.
EMR has grown significantly over the last few years, having undertaken a number of ‘tuck-in’ acquisitions to increase its geographical footprint and continues to undertake significant capital investment to increase production and product-line capabilities. EMR is an operating region of European Metal Recycling, a UK-based privately-held entity (http://uk.emrgroup.com).
As a result of this growth, we are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team.
What You'll Be Doing...
The Financial Analyst is responsible for generating, maintaining and analyzing reports and data for monthly business unit reviews and business process improvements. The role is imperative to the financial planning and analysis department of a business. They are responsible for analyzing and inspecting the financial results and operating performance and predicting future performance of the company. This may include forecasting future revenues and expenditures, as well as modeling capital structure and budgeting. Analyzing the company’s performance not only helps the analyst create forecasts, but also allows the analyst to calculate variances between those forecasts and actuals. It is the analysts’ job to track down and explain the causes of these variances. To succeed in this role, the analyst should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users
- Evaluate and impact business performance by analyzing past results; performing variance analysis with goals, plan and forecasts; identifying trends and making recommendations for improvements
- Develop business unit wide analytical tools for decision support. Identify and drive process improvements, including the development of professional reports
- Perform financial reporting, and operational metrics tracking. Provide project managers with Key Performance Indicators to drive execution
- Communicate with operations, sales, dispatch, marketing, warehousing and plant to build robust business case assumptions. Participate in manufacturing planning, logistics and operations from a financial perspective.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual plan, budgeting, and forecasting
- Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning processes
- Provide cost and general ledger accounting support during the month end close process including: operational management reporting, journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation, and actual vs. budget analysis.
- Perform appropriate risk and sensitivity analysis
- Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Create recommendations to be presented to management and executives
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support
- Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
- Understand product profitability to identify improved purchasing patterns by year, make and model
- Ability to dissect big data sets into meaningful information
What You'll Need To Have...
- Strong quantitative and analytical competency
- Strong financial modeling experience, excellent spreadsheet and financial analysis skills; using macros and pivot tables
- Experience with Tableau software is strongly preferred
- BA, BS, or B.Com degree required (Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Data Science). Advanced degree or certification preferred; CPA or MBA or other related progression.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to achieve company goals
- Results-oriented contributor must demonstrate business acumen and resourcefulness
- Advanced Excel (V lookups, pivot tables and advanced excel macros)
- Strong operational finance knowledge and problem resolution skills
- Outstanding communications, analytical, planning, data gathering, critical thinking and teamwork skills
- 3 to 5 years of business finance or other relevant experience
- Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; be comfortable interacting with executive-level management
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
