Logistics Director
This position is accountable for developing and directing the Company's North American Logistics functions to include operational management of transportation and warehousing, including compliance to import / export regulations.
- Creates strategies which address the business needs of the organization and ensures a commitment to best in class practices.
- Plan and direct the North America Logistics function. Responsible for managing ~$350 million in annual expenditures including inbound/outbound transportation & warehousing.
- Lead the North America Material Handling function. Responsible for the proper creation of pallet patterns and one way packaging specifications to support the business needs of a ~$165 million
spend. Also responsible for the management of returnable packaging material to support the
operational needs of our plants (which is a recurring expenditure of ~$30 million annually). - Responsible for ensuring compliance on all imports and exports for the US and Canada.
- Establish overall department goals and objectives which support the Company’s requirements.
- Establish the appropriate objectives for direct reports to support our Strategic Priorities, including but not limited to cost savings, sourcing plans, improved DPO, etc.
- Identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiencies and reduce cost that directly impact the P&L of the business (i.e. warehouse space utilization, lane and carrier optimization, packaging load pattern & specification effectiveness, etc.).
- Manage, coach and mentor all direct reports.
- Oversee the management of personnel, budget, and other resources to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
- Ensure that the Company meets and/or exceeds the business requirements that have been established by the Company relevant to NA Logistics.
- Conduct appropriate department internal audits and seeks remedies to ensure conformance with department policies and procedures.
- Furnish analysis and cost data for use in planning, budgeting, and other functional activities.
- Establish department policies.
- Identifies and takes action to meet training needs within the department.
- Ensure contract compliance with all federal, state, provincial and local requirements.
- Establish best practices within the organization.
- Collaborate closely with IBP teams to drive business decisions and implement supply chain solutions across the organization.
This position will require 10-20% travel mostly within the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Operations; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in Logistics / Supply Chain.
- Experience to include 5 years of managerial / supervisory responsibility.
- Experience with all modes of transportation, international trade compliance, and multiple distribution locations/warehouses.
- Demonstrated experience with logistics systems.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
- SAP experience a plus.
- Lean/Six Sigma Certification a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong financial management and analytical skills.
