What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telemetry Field Technician II position at Enerflex?
General Summary
Perform installations, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and initialization of the Company’s telemetry system on compressor units in the field and the company’s facilities.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Install and/or service telemetry modules on the Company’s Contract Compression units.
Contact the telemetry supplier’s customer service to activate the telemetry hardware on the compressor unit.
Troubleshoot telemetry problems on Company’s units.
Keep a worklist of units needing work, in conjunction with direction from the office personnel.
Provide reports on the work accomplished on a regular basis and as requested by management.
Travel domestically as well as internationally.
Analyze repetitive occurrences and provide technical solutions in order to drive down costs.
Good customer management skills are required in order to maintain customer confidence both internally as well as externally.
Critical thinking and decision-making skills are essential to balance customer needs with company cost issues.
Read and understand electrical drawings
Computer generated reports
The tech must be able to understand and troubleshoot unit control panel issues that may arise during the work period. This includes Modbus.
Tech should be familiar with the basic process flow. This will eliminate any misunderstandings that could arise in the troubleshooting process.
The tech must be familiar with HMIs and HMI terminology. They must be able to make changes and download an HMI based on customer requests with engineering approval.
The tech must understand the concepts of a basic, handheld electrical meter.
Work safely and present a leadership attitude toward safe work practices. Be an example. Provide all the support described above to customer owned units as well in complete support of the companies AMS business offering
Job Specifications
High school graduate. Some college preferred. 10 years industry experience. Some form of industry sponsored mechanical analysis training is a plus. Must be computer literate.
10 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write reports of a technical nature and articles for inter-company publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
