You will report directly to our Senior Content Strategist and collaborate daily with the entire Energy Circle team. The Position
A Content Writer at Energy Circle is at their core a savvy writer, strategic thinker, and strong task manager. They play a crucial role in creating content for recurring Energy Circle Marketing Services as well as Energy Circle web platform projects. They work closely with the other Content Writers and Content Strategists, the Director of Solar and Digital Marketing Strategy, and Digital Marketing Account Managers and Strategists. This individual must be able to:
- Write engaging online content about energy efficiency/HVAC/home performance/solar specifically
- Produce the following content types: blog posts, landing pages, marketing copy, infographics, video scripts, Facebook ads, etc.
- Demonstrate SEO best practices (writing metadata, performing keyword research, etc.)
- Produce monthly content and brainstorm content ideas for a number of clients
- Attend website project kickoffs, interview clients, create sitemaps, and create content for new client websites
- Review and edit content produced by other writers
- Collaborate with the EC internal marketing team to produce ongoing content
- Provide support as needed on webinars, video production, image and testimonial curation, etc.
Requirements
- Exceptional writing abilities with an understanding of marketing and content strategy concepts. (Experience in content development and writing is a big plus, but we’re happy to consider candidates who can convince us their writing experience will translate to work in marketing.)
- A degree in English, journalism, something similar, or equivalent experience
- Exceptional writing abilities with an understanding of marketing concepts
- Strong project management skills with an ability to meet quick deadlines
- Digital marketing and SEO experience (e.g., metadata, CTAs, alt text, etc.)
- Energized in collaborative team environment
- A commitment to developing deep knowledge of energy efficiency, home performance, building science, etc.
- Experience with video script writing is a plus
Bonus points for the following:
- SEO skills (ensuring page titles, headings, metadata and body copy are all SEO friendly and make appropriate use of keywords)
- Experience in some capacity with our client base: HVAC, Home Performance, Insulation Installers, Energy Auditors and Raters, Sustainable Builders and Remodelers, Solar Installers and Community Efficiency Programs.
- Journalistic and research skills are a big plus - this role will be required to get to know and understand their clients’ preferences, tone-of-voice, brand standards, and gain deep knowledge of their service and product offerings as well as their target audience. Client-facing interview skills as well as a propensity for independent research and learning are all huge benefits.

At this time we are only seeking candidates located in the greater-Portland, Maine/Southern Maine region.
