Manage the development and implementation of transportation, security, health, and safety programs for Operations Systems Americas with multi-site responsibility. Implements all federal, state, local and corporate regulatory requirements. Works with the individual site management teams to develop and drive appropriate culture and continuous improvement activities. Ensures that plant management is kept informed on all H&S issues. #SUW

Manage the overall EH&S responsibilities for multiple Energy Systems America operations (Canada/US/Brazil).
Develop health, safety, DOT (Transportation) and security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, federal and corporate requirements. Recommends course of action and develop procedures for compliance with new and revised laws, rules, and regulations.
D.O.T. compliance as needed for the business.
Responsible for review of all required reports to regulatory agencies at the ES Operations. Maintains all related records and documents. Interact both verbally and in writing with required regulatory agencies.
Responsible for developing and providing all training related to Environmental, Health and Safety regulatory requirements, internal procedures, internal audits, transportation, and security.
Acts as the plant liaison with the local community, regulatory agencies, and other outside agencies
Develop and standardize EH&S Policies, procedures, and training focused on behavioral and proactive type programs.
Perform Job Hazard Analysis and statistical analysis of all incidents and accidents. Goal is to eliminate ergonomic and acute incidents to workers.
Work with local teams to develop and drive appropriate proactive programs, procedures, and tools to eliminate ergonomic impacts to workers.
Manage worker compensation programs and claims related to locations working with local teams and Corporate Workers' Compensation Specialist.
Manage property and casualty insurance auditing and reporting activities.
Manage contractor safety program. Conduct employee, general contractor (GC), and subcontractor safety orientations and safety meetings as necessary.
Chair safety committee meetings and discuss issues, trends, and goals.
Oversee first responder/medical emergency programs for all sites.
Manage oversight site CAPEX and Expense budgets and projects to insure proper reviews for appropriate EHS aspects prior to Appropriation Requests submittals and approvals.
Assist with Sustainability projects as necessary.
Work with Sr. Environmental Manager for the Americas to coordinate review of EPA NESHAP and NSPS compliance requirements.
Review all Global EHS monthly data for accuracy and edits as necessary.
Track all ES Ops EHS Goals, support the VP of ES Ops through dotted line reporting and participation in business meetings.
Participate in Special Projects as necessary to support the Global EHS and ES Ops goals
Responsibilities will include onsite EHS responsibilities in Suwanee, Georgia with additional multi-site responsibilities for other locations.
1. Dotted line reporting of EHS staff at all ES Ops locations. This includes Performance Review input.
COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of US Regulations relating to Health, Safety, and Environment related to EnerSys operations. (EPA, OSHA, TSCA, etc.)
- ISO 14001/45001 experience.
- Auditing and due diligence experience and training.
- Understanding of workplace health monitoring programs as they relate to worker exposure in an industrial setting (e.g. air lead, air arsenic, air cadmium, noise etc.),
- Thorough understanding of risk assessment processes as they relate to environmental, health & safety issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Health, Safety and/or Environment or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of professional EHS experience, including a minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience with ergonomic activities to reduce worker injuries.
- Experience with 5S/Lean and continuous improvement environments.
- Fluency in English is Mandatory.
- College Level Mathematics and science.
- Reasoning Ability:Must have excellent ability to reason and analyze situations quickly to ensure proper actions are taken to mitigate prolonged exposures of risk or liability.
- Basic MS Office, MS Teams.
- Must be able to get issues resolved by dealing with all levels of management and can work across multiple cultures.
OTHER
Professional certifications in Health, Safety, or Environment would be a plus.
OSHA 10/30 Hour Trainer in General Industry
Workers Compensation experience
Emergency First Responder with CPR and AED certification within 60 days of employment.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 40 - 60%
- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
