Light Case Handler

Description

This position is responsible for:

• Inspecting raw product for foreign material and defects.
• Visually inspecting packaging for defects
• Packing cases of finished product
• Erecting cases manually and mechanically
• Cleaning the production floor of fruit debris, used packaging and trash materials. 
• Following all food safety and GMP policies.

Job Responsibilities (not limited to)

• Ensures product and personal safety by following all GMP’s, wearing proper gloves, masks and garments per customer/EFI standards.
• Follows all personal sanitation procedures for handling product.
• Ensures each individual package is fully sealed.
• Verifies package codes to be correct and in proper location.
• Loads individual packages into outer case ensuring correct quantity and package orientation.
• Erects empty cases to be filled.
• Checks all cases for defects before passing them on to the case packers.
• Ensures that all cases are taped securely and are made square.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times.
• Follows procedure as described by work instructions or staff members.

Work Environment

Frequently works in extreme cold (non-weather), in wet or humid conditions (non-weather). Works in areas that require ear protection and/or other PPE. The worker is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, vibrations, working on mezzanines, and exposure to chemicals.

Physical Demands

The Light Weight Case Packing position is considered moderate work. This position requires repeated lifting of 5-7 LBS of weight throughout the entirety of the shift lasting 8 or more hours. Occasionally lifts up to 40 pounds or more. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, climb or balance, or talk or hear. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Environment is quick paced and repetitious.

Safety Announcement

Here at Enfield Farms, safety is a priority. Hearing protection is required at all times within the operating facility. Be cautious around all machinery and keep extremities and PPE clear of moving belts. Further, adhere to all warning signs throughout the facility and warnings directed by staff members. Be cautious of transportation units such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and trucks when on premises.
