ENGEL Machinery North America has a job opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Technician to be based out of ENGEL’s North American Facility in York, PA to support our North American assembly functions.

Job Summary:
Assembles and rewires injection molding machines according to customer specifications. Performs electrical/electronic changes to machines, including mechanical and hydraulic modifications. Adds options to machines at customers’ request and disassembles machines for shipment. Sets-up, tests and correctly calibrates machines to ensure 100% operation for the customer. Ensures work meets quality and service requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assembles ENGEL machinery to meet customer specifications, including electrical mechanical and hydraulic assembly.
- Performs electrical assembly and rewires machines to customer specifications. This includes relays, connectors, switches, breakers, running new lines. Builds new cable assemblies. Mounts and wires robots to machines.
- Performs mechanical assembly by Installing or removing sheet metal parts on machines as needed. Adds components to match customer specifications. Marries clamp and injection parts of machine together and levels to ensure all electrical, hydraulic and water connections are sound for testing. Upon completion, packages machine for transport to customer to ensure no damage upon arrival.
- Performs hydraulic assembly: during retrofits, installs manifolds, runs hoses, rebuilds or replaces valves as required by customer specifications.
- Performs start-up processing and machine testing.
- Connects water and electric to assembled machines to test.
- Upon start-up, checks all systems for functionality, and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic and water systems, correcting any deficiencies.
- Installs software update if needed.
- Performs final test with machine in production to ensure 100% operation for customer.
- Performs miscellaneous duties relating to machine assembly.
- Fabricates small electrical subparts as necessary.
- Builds small cylindrical and toggle assemblies.
- Bends hydraulic pipe assemblies and galvanized water pipe assemblies.
- Loads and unloads truck as needed.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Training Requirement:
- High school diploma or GED required. Some vocational/technical school preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years related experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient with the following equipment: hand tools used in the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic trades, forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, boom and scissor lifts, volt and amp meters, soldering irons, mig welders, drill presses, sanders, grinders and saw and bench grinders.
- Ability to follow specific instructions.
- Ability to adhere to relevant work processes, work sequences and standards.
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic blueprints.
- Good communications skills as role exchanges information on a daily with co-workers and immediate manager, employees in other departments and department managers.
- Customer-oriented attitude is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing for more than 2 hours at a time on a continuous basis and walking on a regular basis. Lifting of machine parts and tools required on a regular basis, possibly up to 50 pounds. On a regular basis, assuming an awkward position to assemble machinery is required. Ability to read blueprints on a regular basis is required as is working at a computer for brief periods of time (less than one hour). Exposure to noise and to chemical and/or toxic substances (e.g., paint) may occur on a regular basis. Occasional exposure to heat and cold is possible. There is regular exposure to mechanical equipment and occasional exposure to hot plastic. Safety equipment is required for certain activities, including safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs (during grinding), rubber gloves and a respirator (during painting).
