Position Purpose:

Facilitate the design and development of sensors and electronic control systems from concept through implementation. Provide technical support of current products to ensure they exceed the expectations of our production facilities and customers.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Instrument and improve hardware-in-loop system to develop and benchmark technologies
  • Plan, setup and execute tests pertaining to Electronic Controls at the Controls Business Unit facility for both new and existing products
  • Develop and use signal processing and data processing scripts to analyze sensor and control data and interpret results
  • Investigate hardware and software issues related to sensors and controls
  • Process/Release Engineering Change Notices through proper channels and systems
  • Develop and maintain appropriate design FMEA’s and assist in the creation of the Design Verification Plan.
  • Perform and support field evaluation unit testing, data collection and analysis
  • Work closely with suppliers and developmental partners to obtain the best overall solutions to design problems.
  • Create and present electronic controls material for Management review at major milestones throughout the product development process.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Degrees in Electrical , Electronic and Automotive Engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Experience in vehicle electronics (preferably heavy or medium duty truck) with exposure to J1939 communication, data analysis, harnessing and vehicle testing required
  • Experience with automotive tools such as MATLAB, Simulink and Vector CANalyzer/CANoe required
  • Strong electronic and mathematical aptitude including experience with electronic control systems, circuit design and microprocessor systems desired
  • Strong hands-on electronic skills such as measurement/troubleshooting using oscilloscopes and multimeters, soldering and ability to read electrical/electronic schematics required
  • Strong mechanical ability such as using hand tools to assemble and disassemble components and test fixtures is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines required. Exposure to Project Management skills and techniques a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time may be required as necessary.
