Job Duties And Tasks For Welder-Fabricator At Engineered Systems
- Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using tape measure, straightedge, combination square, and other various tools.
- Cuts workpiece, using Powered Saws, Hydraulic Shears, Plasma Torch, and/or Oxy-Acetylene Torch.
- Adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
- Welds components in flat, vertical, and occasional overhead positions using GMAW and SMAW techniques.
- Removes rough spots and all sharp edges from workpiece, using portable grinder.
- Inspects welds, grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using various Measuring Instruments.
- Properly fill out and complete quality documents and mark-up drawings for As-builts
- Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities. Routine tool/equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Work at efficient pace in 2-man crew to meet production schedules
- Follow all safety rules and quality standards
- Load and unload in-bound and out-bound freight
- Experience with Gas Metal Inert Gas Welding (GMAW) or (MIG) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 40 pounds routinely required.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and fitting techniques required.
- Ability to identify and measure material
- Ability to safely operate and overhead crane and forklift
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges
- Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form
- Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to factional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents
- Ability to produce quality products consistently
- Must be reliable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work efficiently both individually and as a team
- Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time
- Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethic
