The Role
Entegris is seeking a dynamic procurement professional to fill the role of Buyer. This position is responsible for the timely, efficient and cost-effective procurement of the necessary materials, supplies, units, finished components, tools, etc. to support our requirements for both new and sustaining production, while maintaining quality standards at all time.
In this role you will
- Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with plant team to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
- Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms by interviewing and conferring with current and prospective suppliers, determining supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management, with guidance from Materials Supervisor for assigned responsibilities.
- Manage and direct Finished Goods buying and planning activities through being primary contact with suppliers, ensuring target level of product availability and customer service.
- Utilize finished goods MRP and/or safety stock to order material, set stocking levels and achieve target inventory turns. Expedite when necessary.
- Maintain all system Planning Data for assigned items. Regularly review planning data and SS levels, making necessary adjustments.
- Help ensure inventory accuracy. Conducting inventory audits and Cycle Counts weekly.
- Track incoming inventory for purchased finished goods, and measure on time performance by supply point.
- Coordinates with research and development groups to secure parts and services as needed, monitor inventory vs targets, turns, and customer service levels
- Communicate change in demand to supplier via vendor broadcast. Monitor supplier lead times and on time performance. Adjust as necessary. Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality and delivery and communicate to supplier. Seek corrective action. Work with Global Sourcing and the supplier to identify improvement opportunities in cost, packaging, quality and lead time reduction.
- Work closely with central planning, logistics operations and customer service including cross-functional teams to resolve planning/scheduling issues and expedites;
- Manage safety stock targets for respective raw materials that meet company goals related to service and inventory levels;
- Purchase raw materials for respective product responsibilities;
- Monitor shop floor activities to ensure promise dates are met;
- Analyze material and capacity constraints;
- Develop/maintain and capacity constraints;
- Prepare root cause analyses and appropriate action plans;
- Maintain appropriate ERP planning codes for assigned items;
- Identity errors in lead times to ensure that MRP is driving properly;
- Manage a high degree of collaboration with internal processes. Interact daily with manufacturing leaders, supply planners, finance, IT, sales & marketing, field sales and customer service.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate
- BA degree in business and planning or scheduling experience or equivalent combination of education and 3 years work experience;
- Thorough understanding of operations including purchasing, materials, order processing, production processes and procedures;
- Knowledge of shop floor control procedures;
- Knowledge of cycle and physical counting methods
- Ability to work in self-directed environment;
- Ability to research problems;
- Understanding of capacity planning;
- SAP experience preferred
- Planning experience in a similarly regulated industry
