IMAGINE THE FUTURE WITH ENVALIOR
As the General Counsel for the Americas region at Envalior, your role will involve leading the Legal function for all Envalior legal entities operating in or established in the Americas (currently including the US, Mexico, and Brazil).
You will serve as the primary legal point of contact for Business Units and other relevant Group functions in the Americas, providing practical and commercially sound advice.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to foster innovation and contribute to our values and mission by exploring new approaches.
The job is based out of Troy (MI, United States) with the flexibility to work 2 / 3 days from home.
Your Key responsibilities will be :
- Guarantee compliance with relevant laws and regulations for all Envalior business operations conducted within AMS, while actively managing associated risks.
- Negotiate and prepare commercial agreements (sales and procurement matters) to cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships and minimize legal risks.
- Establish uniform contracts and processes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and maintain consistency across all AMS entities.
- Supervise corporate housekeeping / governance of all AMS entities to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, promoting transparency and accountability.
- Implement and oversee Envalior's Compliance Management System in AMS to reduce legal risks and uphold ethical standards, safeguarding the company's reputation.
- Provide legal support in M&A transactions, facilitating smooth negotiations and transitions while protecting Envalior's interests.
- Offer advice on employment law to promote fair labor practices, reduce risks, and foster a positive work environment.
- Manage the budget for external legal expenses related to AMS to optimize resource allocation and maximize cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain a network with legal firms for efficient legal management in AMS, ensuring access to specialized expertise and resources when necessary.
- Enhance operational efficiency by continuously improving organizational and departmental work methods, driving productivity and excellence within the legal function.
Requirements
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ensures the delivery and quality of overall legal services within a highly professional and dynamic business environment, requiring a deep understanding of Envalior's strategic business needs, requirements, and manufacturing processes.
- Has the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, including national governance requirements, corporate governance, and compliance initiatives, as part of the Head of Legal AMS role.
- Implements corporate requirements and monitors compliance as an integral responsibility within the Head of Legal AMS position.
- Takes on an initiating, advisory, and coaching role in delivering strategic high-end legal work that is crucial for Envalior's success in the AMS region.
- Operates effectively in an international, culturally diverse environment, managing resources in complex projects, and coordinating with third-party advisors and business staff to meet strict time limits and business requirements.
- Excels under time pressure and constraints.
- Is a Senior Lawyer with proven management capabilities and a minimum of 12 years of international legal business achievements in law firms and / or in-house counsel roles.
- Brings extensive negotiation experience in international and multi-disciplinary environments, coupled with proficiency in contract drafting and negotiation under common law systems.
- Possesses a strong understanding of underlying business requirements and processes, particularly in manufacturing or service industries.
- Values teamwork, strong communication skills, and a good sense of humor, essential traits for coaching and managing people in a professional and inspiring manner.
