As a Polymer Lab Technician at Envalior, you will solve many complex and diverse problems that come in the form of new business opportunities, defending the business against competitors, and complaints. Polymer Lab Technicians are an integral part of the success of Envalior’s business. They are a technical resource for both the R&D and Commercial organization.

You will make key contributions to Envalior:
Purpose of the Position
The Polymer Lab Technician is a technical resource for both the R&D and Commercial organizations. As a Polymer Lab Technician in America’s R&T center (ARTC) this individual has a background in polymer science or a closely related science field.
The person should be comfortable in discussing technical details with both internal and external customers. Especially with people who might not have a technical background.
In addition to lab projects, they will assist in performing calibrations or calling in vendors/suppliers.
The Polymer Lab Technician helps to maintain and keep R&D’s storage room orderly. Safety is cornerstone at Envalior, so it is treated very seriously at the company.
It a requirement for the Polymer Lab Technician to work in a safe manner that causes no harm to themselves or their coworker. Ensuring they work “safely” according to Envalior’s principles and rules.
Main Responsibilities
Laboratory work
- Polymer Testing that includes and not limited to thermal, rheological, mechanical, electrical, and various optical techniques. This person will also mold various specimens for testing and/or sample request.
- Interpret and analyze data, and prepare report for internal and external customers
- Communicate with customers about progress of a lab job and manage their expectations
Sample Manager Requestor
- Place in jobs on behalf of the Commercial Team in Sample Manager to both regional and global labs
Safety and Preventative Maintenance
- Work with teammate to maintain the storage room and inventory
- Place in monthly safety observations
- Maintain cleanliness of cubicle and shared spaces in lab
- Work with contractors to have lab equipment serviced
Impact of Position
The position of Polymer Lab Technician holds an important position in Envalior. This person will be responsible for the completion of molding and testing jobs. Manage stakeholders’ expectation by completing jobs by designated completion date. Also, the individual is responsible to help manage the storage room where resin and customers parts are located.
Working Relationships
- This position has close interaction within the rest of the R&D regional and global organization such as Technical Product Managers, Global Technical Product Managers, and Global Product Development.
- Furthermore, the Polymer Lab Tech interacts very closely with both Application Development Engineers and Account Managers.

Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in polymer science/ chemistry/ materials science with some experience plastic’s injection (>1 year) or the willingness to learn is preferred. An associate degree will be considered if the individual has more than 10 years of experience in plastics injection molding and testing.
- 3-5 yrs professional experience
- Knowledge of various mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other plastic properties and testing
Methodologies
- Requested testing skills: TGA, DSC, capillary rheometer, mechanical testing (tensile, Izod, charpy, flexural, etc.), DMA, surface and volume resistivity.
- Prior injection molding experience is ideal. If no prior experience, it is required the person learn how to mold .
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
- Must be a team player as this job requires a lot of collaboration across cross disciplinary
