POSITION: PRODUCTION MANAGER
LOCATION: GLENDALE, AZ
SALARY: EXEMPT
The Production Manager is responsible for managing the entire operations of a manufacturing plant including Shipping/Receiving activities, coordination of daily production activities, ensuring safety at all times. Other duties include ensuring company policies, budgets, and procedures are followed as well as assisting with new hires and training requirements. The primary goal is to meet or exceed the objectives of the organization.
The Production Manager will play a key onsite role in equipment installation, facility improvements, working with local government offices, assist in setting up the new operations and hiring of production staff. The plant is expected to begin production in first quarter 2022.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Safety – to minimize first aides to achieve less than 1 OSHA recordable accident per year and ZERO lost times accidents.
2. Quality – to meet or exceed quality of all products as it relates to fire logs, fire starters and ancillary materials for sales.
3. Production – to meet or exceed average production goals per day.
4. Cost – to meet or exceed budgeted cost per log of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:
- Develop supervisors and employees to achieve organizational goals.
- Determine production based on demonstrated plant capabilities. Implement daily operating schedules for efficient, cost effective utilization of personnel and equipment to maintain quality and production objectives.
- Coordinate shipping department schedules to support customer needs.
- Monitor inventory levels of logs, fire starters and ancillary materials.
- Track daily progress to optimize utilization of available capacity and meet weekly production goals by department.
- Communicate capacity restraints and recommend solutions.
- Sustain department communications through Supervisor and employee meetings.
- Create safety culture to eliminate lost time accidents and keep OSHA recordable to a minimum.
- Resolve associate issues in a timely manner.
- Drive associate involvement and teamwork.
- Other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Manage supervisors and staff of 25-30 employees in the Plant. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the plant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or six to eight years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodical, professional journal, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manual. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, client’s, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems accurately, collect data, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
