Job Description
Summary
Operations supply chain manager has accountability for the procurement, purchase, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. The functional area includes procurement / buyers, inventory, receiving inspection, and administration (material replenishment system / Kanban), and shipping.
Business & Strategy
  • Use of the Ensign-Bickford Operating System (EBOS) as the framework for managing the business. Ability to use EBOS tools to improve business performance and enhance the company’s operations including problem solving, effective use of Kaizen, and setting of and deployment of strategic priorities within the company’s Strategy Deployment Process. Position requires utilizing Ensign-Bickford Operating System (EBOS) principles and tools to achieve breakthrough results in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.
  • Drive the Strategy Deployment Process (SDP) and strategic company vision. Prioritize activities and use action plans, targets to improve (TTIs), key performance indicators (KPIs) to manage functional area.
  • Ensure clarity around priorities and goals for the entire functional area. Collaborate with cross-functional teams functions / peers for shared goals. Interface with senior leadership for key performance indicator reporting.
  • Work with senior leaders and peers for strategy development and execution planning
  • Manage overall financial budgeting for functional area. Communicate financial and goal results and key performance indicators to direct reports.

  • Recruit talent for opportunities. Manage talent resources for capacity. Capacity planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including people development, coaching, goal setting, and evaluation. Responsible for planning, directing, monitoring the work of a group of individuals, and taking corrective action when necessary. Facilitate goal creation for functional area and works with managers and supervisors to ensure the goals cascade to all workers.
Supply Chain, Shipping & Inventory Management
  • Identify new manufactured and raw material opportunities.
  • Coordinates and organizes resources to meet current and future raw material needs.
  • Develops long term raw material sourcing strategies and partners.
  • Develop innovative strategies to remove supply chain cost from raw materials by expanding sourcing opportunities
  • Develop and maintain short and long term strategies for all key raw materials, including disaster recovery plans. Ensure procurement activities and supplier interactions work within the developed strategies.
  • Create and implement supplier management tools for commodities and freight vendors.
  • Identify and communicate current trends and impact to supply chain competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain key vendor relationships and alliances.
  • Provides market information and trend analysis on raw materials and commodities.
  • Has oversight for the process to secure and analyze quotations for all raw materials, freight, and services; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Plan, organize and control functional area to ensure that quality raw materials are received efficiently, on time and within budget. Develop and maintain standard work processes and cadence.
  • Oversee procurement and inventory – proactively manage suppliers and supply chain for on time delivery of quality raw materials to support the factory. Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to effectively manage inventory. Develop and maintain inventory standard work processes and cadence
  • Follow established safe work practices - company safety policies and procedures, and for reporting any unsafe or hazardous conditions
General Skills Required
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated knowledge and experience driving continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. Ability to create and manage standard work processes, develop, and manage visual management systems. Oversee and lead material replenishment and Kanban systems.
  • Communication Skills: Will need to speak with coworkers and suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Drive problem solving to understand root cause of issues, implement tactical and systemic corrective actions to resolve. Anticipate problems and proactively address.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated exceptional team building skills. Will need to hire employees, resolve conflicts, keep employees motivated and on-task. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Critical-Thinking Skills: will need to devise plans of action and assess plans regularly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, engineering, supply chainor related field or knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • 5 years supervisory/management experience
  • Must be able to use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Ensign-Bickford Industries (EBI) uses the IFS ERP system to automate and manage core business processes, coordinate the flow of data between business processes (financials, supply chain, operations, commerce, reporting, manufacturing, configuration management); providing a single source of truth and streamlining operations across the enterprise.
