ESA seeks a highly motivated Senior Aviation Noise and Air Quality Analyst. We are looking for a team member with at least 5 to 10 years of experience who has the intellectual curiosity and proactivity to continue the advancement of our established team of aviation planning and environmental professionals. The position will support projects throughout the US. This opportunity is focused on data collection, data analysis, and modeling using the FAA’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT).

Who You Are
You are an effective team member within the aviation noise industry who is well-versed in evaluating the impacts of aircraft operations. You are also experienced with air quality, greenhouse gas, and emissions modeling and have strong communication skills.
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in acoustics, mathematics, physics, airport planning, aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, flight operations, civil engineering, chemistry, air quality, meteorology, earth science, environmental science, atmospheric science; or you have a related degree and directly relevant qualifications. You have 5 to 10 years of experience in airport consulting or a closely related field.
Successful candidates will have significant experience with aircraft noise impact assessments, Part 150 studies, air quality emissions inventories and sections of NEPA reports using the FAA’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT). Position also requires familiarity with FAA regulations and standards and experience in the field performing noise monitoring and analyzing monitoring data. Should be experienced with DNL and alternative noise metrics (SEL, Lmax, Time Above, Events Above). Experience with air quality models such as AERMOD, CalEEMod, ACEIT, EMFAC, AERSCREEN, MOVES, a plus.
You have excellent technical writing, time/budget management, and organizational capabilities. You have the ability to work collaboratively with clients and interdisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget in a fast-paced work environment. You have excellent organizational and strong problem-solving skills.
You demonstrate a clear understanding of project management principles and practices and are responsible for the delivery of high-quality work products. You have the ability and desire to mentor junior staff members.
What You Will Do for ESA
You will support the preparation of aircraft noise analyses in support of Part 150 studies, NEPA studies and aircraft operational studies. You will predict noise and air quality/greenhouse gas emissions using the FAA’s AEDT.
You will consistently demonstrate your solid writing skills and attentive listening skills. You will prepare or assist with preparing draft scopes of work and budgets, including providing technical input, contributing to proposal writing, identifying opportunities, and engaging with proposal/interview teams. You may assist in marketing and business development pursuits, including developing capture strategies.
You will demonstrate a clear understanding of project management principles and practices and be responsible for the development of environmental compliance and planning documents in accordance with applicable guidelines and requirements, while delivering assignments within budget and on schedule.
You will assist with complex projects coordinating with key team members, including junior staff, subconsultants, and clients. You will actively manage less complex environmental analyses. You will produce technical work and written products that are clear, concise, and well supported.
You will provide mentorship and support for junior staff, including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback and career development guidance while working on projects together.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while working on a team or independently.
The location of this position may be in any of ESA’s offices throughout California, Florida, Washington or Georgia. ESA may be open to other work locations depending on experience level.
