POSITION SUMMARY

The Structural BIM Coordinator will perform, assist others, and oversee the setup, creation, maintenance, and review of structural content, drawings, and deliverables in BIM and CAD software platforms Provide support and mentoring to BIM procedures, workflows and best practices for modeling. The Structural BIM Coordinator is responsible to coach and guide involved engineers with the implementation and application of BIM. Offer cross-team support for BIM software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, maintain, and review structural BIM models and CAD drawings.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance ESD CAD/BIM standards and procedures.
  • Assist with Structural production and deliverables.
  • Assist with production for other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc) as needed.
  • Set up projects for the team and ensures compliance with ESD delivery and BIM standards throughout all projects
  • Collaborate with the internal and external design team and other departments to identify areas of improvement and communicate procedural changes
  • Perform model audits and checks ensuring compliance with the BIM Execution Plan
  • Ensures compliance with ESD drafting and BIM standards throughout projects
  • Checks the different aspect models on consistency
  • Conduct BIM coordination meetings with internal team and external project stakeholders
  • Makes proposals for any model adjustments, discusses and consults with the relevant members of the team
  • Identify and assist in creating, management and organization of Revit families and details to enhance ESD content libraries
  • Actively participate and assist project teams with BIM project execution planning at project kickoff and project milestones.
  • Provide final check of all projects for quality assurance focusing on model quality and drawing graphics in collaboration with discipline leads and TAs.
  • Maintain good communication with engineers to assure timely and efficient completion of jobs, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation for each project
  • Evangelize, educate and support primary BIM applications
  • Assist development and implementation of training programs for BIM applications
  • Document procedures, workflows and best practices for data post-processing and modeling
  • Provide troubleshooting, assistance and mentoring for Revit users
  • Help with pilot testing of new BIM applications and add-ins
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office applications
  • Expert level of knowledge of structural BIM practices, standards, workflows and techniques including modeling, collaboration, standards-checking, and clash detection tools
  • Understands structural basics processes and AEC industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience with a structural BIM execution plan and providing a detailed modeling plan for each phase of design
  • A clear understanding of a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality
  • Ability to define problems, evaluate options and make appropriate recommendations
  • Coordination and management of BIM models
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills regarding projects, reports and other commitments; completes assignments in a quality and timely fashion; able to manage multiple priorities concurrently; is punctual and dependable
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, problem resolution, and trouble shooting skills
  • Possess very strong organizational skills with attention given to detail and accuracy
  • Possess a personal sense of urgency and initiative and the ability to drive tasks to completion
  • Exhibits strong communication skills and can confidently interact with clients, vendors and co-workers
  • Maintains a positive, self-motivated, can-do attitude and work ethic with attention given to details
  • Possess the leadership skills that make for a sought-after project team member
  • Able to adapt to new technology quickly

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in AEC related field (required)
  • 5 years of BIM production experience in Architecture/Engineering (required)
  • Autodesk Revit Certified Professional (preferred)
  • CSI Construction Document Technologist Certified (preferred)
