Role
Seeking Junior IT Project Managers to manage various technology projects for the Project Management Office (PMO) in a highly matrixed environment. Various projects include but are not limited to the following
This position will support the Fire Department technology initiative to implement a Fire CAD 9-1-1 Dispatch Modernization System replacement. The project is underway, and the team is in need of one experienced Jr. Project Manager to work with the selected vendor to implement the phased-in approach., and have a 1 year duration estimate.
Qualifications
Three years of experience as a Jr. Project Manager / Coordinator or above
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, information technology, or related field
Excellent customer service and ability to convey project needs and risks to the business, technology, and executive stakeholders. Ability to scribe a technical discussion between a customer and a vendor
Ability and understand the project schedule, monitor and control project tasks
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, timely, and concisely written documentation and presentations
Advanced proficiency with MS Word, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Project/PWA, Visio
Keep track of budgeting details and find new ways to reduce expenses
Keep track of changes in the long- and short-term goals for projects
Manage the project calendar
Update the project schedule when team members complete tasks
Prepare assignments for individuals or project teams
Jr. Project Manager support the lead Project Manager by providing project management support
Clear communication by phone, in person, and through email
Problem-solving, conflict resolution, time management, and data entry
Understanding of basic IT concepts (Clients connect to a Server, Firewalls help manage security, etc.)
Preferred Experience and Training
5 years of experience as a Jr. Project Manager in complex technology projects
Experience implementing a training program or tracking the progress of a training program
Experience with or an understanding of software testing
Other certifications and skills such as Agile, Scrum, Lean, Kaizen, and Organizational Change Management are a plus
Different combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
