Our customers are predominantly locally-based small and medium-sized consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands, many of whom are focused on creating natural and innovative products for their consumers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Director of Training will lead our ePac University program and will oversee the development and maintenance of a sustainable system of programs and processes that enhance employees’ knowledge, skills, safety, quality of work, and productivity. This position will develop and implement training modules to meet the needs of our  personnel. The Director of Training will be responsible for leadership of design, delivery, and management of the Training and Development function for all functional areas within the company. The role will include all aspects of training needs assessment and training development, delivery, evaluation, and management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop a Training Needs Analysis model and conduct an initial company-wide analysis; utilize analysis results to develop a strategic roadmap for company-wide employee training and development. 
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts to develop appropriate training curricula and programs to meet regulatory compliance and organizational needs.
  • Manage the design, development, and roll-out of learning content, including delivery of course content to support the organization’s goals
  • Develop a means of measuring the effectiveness of training programs developed or administered through evaluation, testing, and assessment of program outcomes. 
  • Develop onboarding and cross-training processes for new hires and internal transfers; processes to be specifically & uniquely designed for each core job. Develop program to refresh and update training as necessary and at regular intervals. 
  • Stay connected and apprised of external marketplace trends in training; seek out leading technology trends to improve training processes such as e-learning, mobile learning, video-based training, virtual learning environments, and adaptive learning. Conduct internal and external benchmarking for best practices
  • Consistently assess needs and identify short and long term plans to close gaps in behaviors, capabilities, skills and regulatory compliance.
  • Management of the training budget. Work with state and federal agencies on potential grants or other training assistance from local educational agencies.
  • Implement coaching sessions and mentorship programs to establish a culture of continuous learning
  • Implement “train the trainer” programs 
  • Monitor training completion for new and existing employees and ensure that consistent training methods are implemented across the company.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert level knowledge in program/project management
  • Displays empathy and dedication to improving communication with others - practices reflective listening to ensure complete understanding of another's point of view.
  • Demonstrates the adaptability to imagine new possibilities either by developing novel uses of existing ideas and technologies, or by developing new ideas to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Interpersonal communication, organization, and time management skills are critical
  • Proficiency with Google suites products
  • MS NAV and Salesforce experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership qualities showing an ability to influence a cross-functional team and top management into following a particular course of action.
  • High level of creative ability.
  • Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a strong personal drive for success
  • Must be able to travel 30 % of the time to ePac site locations.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or similar area; or related experience in lieu thereof.
  • 5 years of experience in training or education roles; strong preference for time spent in manufacturing plants
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Proven administrator experience and familiarity with one or more Learning Management Systems
  • Experience with needs assessments, course development, design, and presentation/facilitation of professional training courses.
  • Demonstrated experience in content creation, maintenance of training processes.
  • Active credential: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with software implementations and understanding what goes into training users on a new application
  • Proven success in software application support, software demonstrations, or technical training role.
