What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager/Assistant Manager position at Epic Center, Inc.?
Objective:
Epic Center is looking to hire one full time manager and one part time manager that could lead to being a full time manager. Training will begin during our ‘slow’ season starting in May, with the goal of being ready to work maximum hours by position in time for Autumn 2022.
Purpose of Assistant Manager/Manager:
Manager is responsible for supervising the staff and facility; professionally interact with all facility guests in order to create positive memories for everyone. Part time managers may become full time managers based on performance.
Detailed Responsibilities and Necessary Skills:
- Familiarize yourself with Epic Sports Center party package options, league/rental information and sales information; be able to professionally explain their costs to effectively make a sale.
- Familiarize yourself with facility emergency exits, entrances, and maintenance tools in the facility.
- Handle the daily and/or seasonal facility maintenance duties such as cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors, shoveling snow/salting sidewalks, fixing broken equipment, cleaning sports venues, cutting grass, painting, taking out garbage, cleaning up messes left by customers, etc. Be willing to accept the responsibility of administering a full sports league or program once you are trained, thus being the ‘face’ of the league or program.
- Be able to stock pop and candy machines, move athletic equipment including soccer/hockey/field hockey goals as needed, often several times in one shift.
- Help the staff prepare all assigned areas of the facility for any event, party, sports contest, rental, or when opening the facility.
- Be able to describe our hours of operation and which times we use to schedule parties and other events.
- Maintain the facility so that all equipment shortages, equipment problems, and other issues are reported to management or resolved after opening or in a timely manner.
- Time Keep league games, collect referee fees, maintain league statistics, maintain Player Registration Records and League Documentation as needed.
- Enforce facility policies regarding Player Registrations and collect league/rental fees in a timely matter.
- Assist in running birthday parties and other Special Events as needed.
- Welcome guests at the counter and offer to answer any questions; run the front counter during normal hours of operation.
- Publish creative Social Media content on our various platforms; assist in taking pictures and video of day-to-day activities to post for promotional purposes.
- Assist in seasonal telemarketing and mailer projects to drum up customer interest in upcoming sports leagues and programs.
- Maintain positive and professional relations with vendors, coaches, referees, and other independent contractors that assist Epic Center with their services.
- Answer the phone with a smile in your voice. Go the extra mile to exceed expectations with excellence in customer service, even by calling customers by name.
- Document any misconduct of patrons and/or employees to management. This includes but is not limited to damage to property, stealing, or alcohol/drug use.
- Be able to document incidents for insurance purposes, including but not limited to
injuries using accident reports, and misconduct by players.
- Familiarize yourself with facility emergency procedures. Be able to think on your feet and handle situations in a confident, controlled, and professional manner.
- Ensure the cash balance of any party, rental, or team fee is paid at the reception
when due. Assist the General Manager and other Managers in monitoring the Accounts Receivable records.
- Possess extraordinary skills in public speaking to a group; possess extraordinary professionalism and patience handling incoming or outgoing phone calls.
- Be extremely well organized, be willing to multitask, and be a "team player" in running the facility with the other Managers and staff.
- Learn our Sports Scheduling System Software and perform routine administrative duties at the front counter.
- Ensure you are complying with recommended “best-practice” standards of conduct.
- Ensure that the Epic Sports Center Standard of Service aligns with your own personal
standard of excellence and is not compromised for any reason.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
High School and College Degree with at least a 3.0 GPA overall.
Degree in Business Administration and/or Sports Management preferred.
Management/Assistant Management experience preferred.
Position Reports To:
Epic Sports and Fun Center General Manager
Typical Work Hours:
First Priority: Weekends – Manager must commit to working Saturday and Sunday mornings. Assistant manager must commit to working Saturday nights. Once training is completed, these two positions can flip-flop hours for greater flexibility and time off.
Second Priority: Weekdays – Some afternoons through late evenings/night as leagues/programs get scheduled.
Summer Season - OFF Friday through Sunday.

Part Time Pay: Starting at $16-17 per hour, salary re-evaluation after 60 days, 40% Commission on New Advertising Sales (Advertising Banners, League Sponsorships, etc.)
Full Time Pay: Starting at $17-20 per hour, salary re-evaluation after 60 days, full health care after two years (full time employees only). 40% Commission on New Advertising Sales (Advertising Banners, League Sponsorships, etc.)
COVID-19 considerations:
All measures being taken by the Epic Sports and Fun Centers will be periodically evaluated, and changed from time to time, so that the Epic Sports and Fun Centers remain in compliance with the latest guidelines from the Center for Disease Control.
