The Warehouse Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and monitoring the productivity of its department. This role is responsible for determining the department's priorities, assigning workloads, and managing daily tasks. Additionally, the Warehouse Supervisor communicates with customers to answer shipping and receiving questions and troubleshoot problems. The Warehouse Supervisor must ensure the effective utilization of labor resources, balancing them to satisfy fluctuating customer demands and continually adjusting to material availability. Effective communication with DC management and customer service representatives is crucial. Identifying employee behavioral problems and conflict resolution is critical. The supervisor must initiate actions to recognize, motivate, and/or modify employees’ behavior patterns and be willing to take disciplinary action when necessary to correct continued inappropriate behavior or poor performance.
This position leads the hourly workforce and ensures the timely execution of vital warehouse functions to meet all aftermarket customer demands. The supervisor oversees work performed in the DC warehouse and various functions supporting the distribution center. They must recognize interruptions to normal material flow and react quickly. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Additionally, the Warehouse Supervisor acts as the Safety Coordinator and Emergency Evacuation Leader when needed.
The work environment includes being regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds and is occasionally required to lift up to and in excess of 100 pounds. Work also involves climbing up to 4-6 feet using ladders or raising up to 50 feet using a powered industrial truck. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Personal Protection Equipment may be required in this role. The position is considered Safety Sensitive.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to subordinate warehouse personnel and facilitate employee issue resolution.
- Oversee, direct, and motivate employees.
- Assign and direct personnel to achieve departmental targets.
- Assist in establishing and updating performance standards for subordinates.
- Prioritize activities and take necessary actions to meet Distribution Center targets.
- Ensure safety, quality, and housekeeping standards are met daily.
- Work with DC management to establish processes to meet shipping schedules.
- Ensure that all vital warehouse functions are executed daily.
- Constantly monitor the environment for risk areas.
- Develop the workforce to ensure "Safety First" is a way of life.
- Perform overall coordination of all in-house emergency matters.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in a warehouse/distribution environment.
- At least 5 years of manufacturing and/or warehousing/distribution experience.
- Basic computer skills – Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of and/or experience with ERP and Warehouse Management Systems.
- Knowledge of carrier/transportation procedures.
