Summary of Duties: The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of NY's prescription program, paper and electronic; prescriber education, issuing controlled substance licenses to healthcare facilities, processing drug destruction requests from healthcare facilities, providing guidance to pharmacies with submission of dispensed prescription data, and capturing complaints to ensure that health and safety standards are met and protect the public health by combating the illegal use and trafficking of prescription controlled substances.
Duties include performing administrative support responsibilities such as maintaining various tracking and database systems, formatting documents in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, performing data entry operations and data quality control, monitoring shared email accounts and drafting professional responses, answering phones, referring calls, and answering inquiries, receiving and processing mail and fax documents, printing, scanning, faxing and photocopying and organizing and maintaining electronic (and paper) files.
Candidates should be dependable, highly motivated, individuals and able to work in a fast paced, high volume office environment.
Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma (or equivalent), excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; the ability to work on a team and handle multiple, shifting priorities; good organizational skills; ability to correspond with healthcare professionals; and familiarity working in electronic databases.
Preferred qualifications: Familiarity and knowledge of varied healthcare entities, including pharmacies, practitioners, and healthcare institutions; familiarity and knowledge of the New York State Health Commerce System; and prior experience working in a New York State Health Department secure, confidential law enforcement environment.
