GENERAL FUNCTION
The EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, recommending and implementing EHS policies and procedures across the Columbus Lockbourne Facility (Rx Operations, Exciton & Office Staff) to ensure compliance to all applicable local, state & Federal regulatory requirements. The EHS Manager partners with site leadership to create an EHS culture where employees at all levels understand the importance of EHS management processes & are committed to maintaining a safe & compliant work environment.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, recommends & implements programs to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state & federal EHS regulations including training and written programs.
Develops, recommends & implements continuous improvement opportunities in EHS performance & compliance activities. Supports development of EHS culture that drives ownership & accountability across the facility.
Maintain & analyze environmental, health & safety metrics for the site to provide to site leadership and Corporate EHS function to support business initiatives & develop budgets.
Develop & implement site EHS goals & targets aligned with North American EHS goals/targets.
Responsibility for reporting sites Workers Compensation claims to insurance company & partner with Corporate Risk Management team to manage claims to closure.
Maintains recordkeeping and submits reports for OSHA, BLS, environmental regulatory requirements (Tier II, TRI, RCRA, etc.) and any other official agency compliance requirements. Maintains files and documentation related to EHS regulatory & compliance matters.
Good knowledge of Federal & Ohio state/local requirements related to air quality, wastewater treatment and hazardous waste management (RCRA), etc.
Partner with department managers on Incident Reporting & investigations to identify root cause & prevent recurrence.
Lead sites EHS risk assessments on projects/initiatives to proactively identify EHS aspects and impacts and partner with local team to address identified issues & develop action plans to address.
Experience using tools to track actions using PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach for solving problems and managing change.
Provides EHS technical expertise and support to leaders and employees
Establishes and maintains relationships with local, state and federal agencies (OSHA, OEPA, Fire Department, etc.) and represents the Company in resolving issues and limiting exposure
Work with internal business partners regarding new product, equipment & process introductions, various EHS initiatives as well as programs & practices.
Partner with corporate & other EssilorLuxottica EHS personnel in North America to leverage EHS policies & best practices into the Columbus facility
Experience developing/implementing EHS Programs including but not limited to: Ergonomics, LOTO, hazardous material & hazardous waste management, air quality and wastewater permitting,.
Manage OSHA & environmental recordkeeping & reporting requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's in chemical, safety/environmental management, engineering, or related field
5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets, Word & PPT. Experience with online EHS reporting and management tools.
Ability to analyze information, solve problems, prioritize tasks, & manage time effectively
Ability to work well independently & effectively with others
Excellent organization, communication (oral & written), & interpersonal skills
Experience implementing & maintaining ISO 14001 & ISO45001 Management Systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
ASP, CSP, CHMM or other EHS certifications a plus
