Client Summary:
The Health System is designed to increase efficiencies and economies of scale; improve quality and outcomes; and expand access to advanced primary, specialty, and ambulatory care services throughout a wide clinical network. The Health System includes more than 7,200 physicians, including general practitioners and specialists, and 13 free-standing joint-venture centers.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
This is a position which involves limited independent judgement. Performs clerical work requiring application of various work methods and procedures and familiarity with departmental functions, policies, and practices. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center. A. Clinical/Technical/Service Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks: Makes simple postings to various departmental records using the LIS Must be courteous when routing calls to different departments in the laboratory. Conducts limited research of records for information relating to verification or location of other records or information. Provides laboratory results upon request to physicians, nursing staff and other authorized personnel Faxes results to physicians or other departments within and outside of the organization, with the appropriate consent. Has extensive knowledge of the Laboratory Computer system in order to access specimens and look up results in an efficient manner. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information. Observes the Health Care System's compliance policies. Observes all safety procedures and precautions: Observes all HIPAA and Infection Control regulations as per hospital policy Has knowledge of SDS location within the laboratory Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and significant others. Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community. Manages efficient workflow through clear communication with co-workers, contributes to a team approach. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary. Must handle biohazardous specimens in order to transport them into their respective working area.
