Job Description: Respiratory Care Equip Tech II
This position is responsible for performing decontamination, maintenance, set-up and calibration, when required, of all equipment and supplies used by the Respiratory Care Department for Patient Care in accordance with established policies and procedures for decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, assembly and packaging. He/she is also responsible for ordering and maintaining par levels, receiving, sorting, storage and distribution of reusable and consumable Medical Equipment and other duties as assigned.
- Equipment : Ensures processing and re-assembly of re-useable Medical Supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Is proficient in knowledge of all methods used in the Cleaning, Disinfection, High-level disinfection, and Sterilization of Patient Care Equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Processing, storage and maintenance of bronchoscopes.
- Provides evidence that steam sterilizer is tested at least daily with live bacterial spores
- Ensures the use of chemical indicators and integrators are used with each load sterilized.
- Inspects instrumentation and equipment for cleanliness, defects and proper working/condition prior to packaging or delivery for use.
- Labels faulty equipment with a description of the problem on the appropriate form for pickup/delivery to the Biomedical Department for repair on a daily basis.
- Ensures all associated documentation is completed and initialed at all times.
- Ensures the use of Sterilization Process Monitors, including temperature and pressure recording, use and frequency of appropriate chemical indicators and/or bacteriologic spore test for sterilizer at all times.
- Preforms preventative maintenance of all processing equipment, including performance verification records and reports.
- Keeps work area neat, clean and prepared for the next volume of equipment to be processed at all times.
- Informs manager of significant developments in workflow in a timely manner: equipment status, progress of daily assignments, unusual incidence, and anticipated problems.
- Ensures compliance and demonstrates knowledge of all mandated education and safety programs at all times.
- Ensures use of appropriate dress code and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
- Ordering and Supply Maintenance: Orders, receives, maintains and distributes Consumable Medical Supplies.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge in the use of the hospital's Computerized Ordering System.
- Demonstrates the ability to track Inventory Trends.
- Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a busy work environment.
- Stocks shelves with supplies and maintains predetermined inventory par levels.
- Dispenses and distributes equipment and supplies.
- Maintains supplies in an orderly manner.
- Inspects and cleans Supply Storage Area and containers.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge and maintenance of all Medical Compressed Gas Cylinders.
- Professionalism/Leadership: Demonstrates a high standard of professionalism.
- Demonstrates appearance and behaviors, promoting a positive image of Respiratory Care.
- Addresses parents/patients and colleagues with respect and dignity.
Education Requirement: High School Diploma / GED
Education Preferred: Associate's Degree in Health Sciences field of study
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Required:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross).
Work Experience Required: At least two (2) years related experience in a hospital or other health care related field

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Computer Competency
- Basic use of computers, printers, monitors, and Fax machines
- Information Literacy
- Use of Internet and/or Intranet to look up Basic Digital Resources for practice such as: Manufacturer IFU (Information for use) utilizing OneSource Document Service.
- Ability to find and navigate the Department of Respiratory Care Website and related linked company Resource Sites
- Ability to interact with all levels of Hospital Personnel.
- Must be self-motivated and able to perform varied tasks with minimal supervision.
Schedule Notes: 40hrs/weekly (5 – 8 hour shifts) It will be a 13 week assignment to start Equiliem Healthcarespecializes in staffing clinical, non-clinical, and allied personnel.
