MENTOR RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR

Equinox is a private residential treatment center that works with boys ages 14-18 located outside of Asheville on a beautiful 150-acre campus in Hendersonville, North Carolina. We specialize in the treatment of trauma, loss and attachment issues with sub-specialties in anxiety, mood disorders, and addictive behaviors. We are relationship-focused and provide individual, group, equine, and adventure-based therapy to our residents. This is great experience and on the job training that can be a stepping stone for work in Mental Health and Social Work. The Youth Counselor, Direct-Care Staff, are supervising and helping to counsel and support students to ensure their safety while offering feedback and modeling, maintaining healthy relationships with both students and staff. The suitable applicant is someone who is responsible, has good boundaries and is capable of remaining calm in what can sometimes be an emotionally-intensive environment. The campus is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Job Requirements include:

All SHIFTS AVAILABLE - FULL TIME/PART TIME

AM/PM/OVERNIGHTS (WEEKEND AVAILABILITY PREFERRED)

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• High School diploma.
• Must be able to walk up/down stairs and deal with slight elevation changes from building to building.
• Experience with youth preferred.
• Experience in a residential setting preferred.
• In this position you will demonstrate commitment and responsibility in completing all job duties including:
• Complete the shift log
• Complete resident chart maintenance, filing, and other paperwork duties as assigned.
• Complete all training modules, and attend required staff meetings as directed by supervisor.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned, or as may be required by your supervisor.
• Consistently exercise good judgment and adequate emotional stability in evaluating situations and making decisions despite the pressures of deadlines or the occurrence of unexpected stressful events.
