What are the responsibilities and job description for the Culture Lead position at Equitas Academy Charter Schools?

Equitas Academy provides a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities. We currently operate four Elementary Schools and two Middle Schools, with more schools opening in the near future.   The Culture Lead supports the school team’s efforts to create a positive, relationship-based, safe, and joyful school culture that aligns with Equitas’ mission. At Equitas, we believe that safe and supportive learning environments are rooted in having consistent, positive, high expectations and relationships. In this role, you will work to support school culture through restorative practices, building relationships, and contributing to a positive learning environment. You will also coach support staff (such as Culture Coordinators, IAs, BIIs, In House Subs, and Enrichment Teachers) to grow and be successful in their positions.   School Culture: Act as part of school-based Leadership Team and help to make strategic cultural decisions for the school and carry out program elements as neededSteward positive culture through holding scholars and teachers accountable to restorative practices, culture agreements, and Equitas systems and expectations Be present and visible during school hours, setting the school up for a strong culture both in and out of the classroomAttend grade level team meetings and take on leadership for positive, consistent cultural practices In collaboration with Grade Level Leads, plan and lead Friday community meetings and activitiesSupport student ambassadors and student leadership programsLead restorative justice practices and support teachers in leading restorative practices including leading restorative circles and check ins.Handle behavior referrals as needed Identify and meet with students who need additional mentoring and coaching on positive choice making, problem solving, and social skills, both individually and in small groups, based on student needsSet goals with students and help them self assess their progress towards their goalsCreate and facilitate opportunities for celebration and rewards for students as they reach their goalsServe as point person for students and families regarding all disciplinary actions and other culture issuesLead conversations with families about student behavior, support plans, consequences, behavioral successes, and restorative practices   Coaching and Development:Conduct weekly observations and O3 meetings with support staffShare actionable and supportive feedback with coachees in weekly O3 meetingsCo-leading O3s with coaches as needed to support teachers with behavior managementProvide support and leadership for instructional support team Lead PD on positive culture and restorative practicesCoach teachers on SEL strategies   Additional Duties: Help facilitate the school’s field trip programs including determining transportation arrangements for trips or buses when needed Support at arrival, lunch, dismissal, and other school-wide transitionsWork and assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of studentsFollow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutritionMaintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholdersPerform other duties as assigned  Reports to: School Director Desired Qualifications: A strong belief  in the power of restorative practices Strong relationship building skills with students, families, and teachers Previous experience working with children required Previous experience leading and coaching others required A strong belief that all students can succeedBilingual Spanish speaker required Commitment to Diversity Equitas Academy is actively seeking to build a diverse and experienced team of educators.
