Job Purpose:
The EFD Research Technician conducts material tests to support Sales and R&D, including data acquisition and recording data.
Duties:
· Conduct material tests to support Sales and R&D, including data acquisition and recording data neatly and accurately within computer-based templates.
· Assist engineers and lab management team to derive and maintain project schedules.
· Demonstrate equipment and testing protocols to potential customers.
· Use analytical ability to identify best route for upgrading or separating materials provided by customers.
· Write technical reports on test results and recommend proper equipment.
· Keep work areas and lab clean.
· Troubleshoot minor problems encountered with test equipment in the lab & in the field.
· Work with customers to help solve field equipment & material problems.
· Construct and assemble prototype equipment in the test lab and in the field.
· Travel up to 5-10% of the time to conduct field tests/start-ups.
· Perform other similar and related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science degree (preferred) or Two-year technical degree/High School diploma
· Good analytical ability with a working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry.
· Must have good technical writing and communication skills.
· Well-organized, highly motivated self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
· Must be able to dress appropriately and conduct himself/herself professionally for customer visits and product demonstrations.
· Must be able to read & comprehend drawings, wiring diagrams & flow sheets.
· Good mechanical skills for required “hands-on” work.
· Basic understanding of electrical and electronic circuitry.
· Able to design/fabricate/modify parts for prototype equipment.
Physical Requirements:
· Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
· Must be able to see details at close range.
· Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
· Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
· Must be able to work in hot, cold, dusty environments.
· Must pass a company paid health physical.
