POSITION TITLE: Earthwork Technician
PAY STATUS: Non-exempt

PAY RANGE: Starting at $18/hour

General Responsibility:
As an Earthwork Technician you will play a vital role in supporting our environmental, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and inspections, field inspections, code compliance, and geophysical technology projects. You will be responsible for performing various tasks related to earthwork and site preparation, ensuring compliance with engineering and environmental standards, and contributing to the overall success of our projects.
Significant Duties:
- Earthwork Inspection: Conduct inspections of excavation, grading, compaction, and site preparation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Material Testing: Collect and test soil, aggregate, and construction materials to determine their properties and suitability for use in various construction projects.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of field inspections, test results, and daily reports, ensuring that all project documentation is organized and accessible.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain various equipment and tools, such as soil compaction testers, moisture meters, and other testing equipment, to perform on-site tests and inspections.
- Sampling: Collect soil and material samples from construction sites and conduct laboratory tests to analyze their physical and chemical properties.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure that construction activities adhere to relevant local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Geotechnical Support: Assist geotechnical engineers in conducting subsurface investigations, soil sampling, and data collection for geotechnical assessments.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on inspection findings, material test results, and geotechnical data for project stakeholders.
- Safety: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents and incidents.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensurethe successful completion of projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or relevant certifications in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in earthwork inspection, construction materials testing, or related roles is advantageous.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering, construction materials, and environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in using equipment and tools related to earthwork and materials testing.
- Ability to adapt to various work environments, including outdoor conditions and construction sites.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
