Job Title: Tool Design Engineer
Location: Franklin Grove, IL
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay rate: $70,000 - $90,000 Bonus and EXCELLENT benefits

Oversee and perform activities associated with providing world class tool design support to the manufacturing areas that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Facilitate and participate in the design and build of manufacturing/assembly/processing equipment and processes.
• Facilitate and participate in machine control design, fabrication, and installation.
• Identify and implement improvements (jointly with manufacturing and engineering teams) that maximize safety, reduce product cost, improve quality and maximize customer satisfaction.
• Continuously research and implement "Best Practice tool design methods and processes.
• Facilitate and manage the Engineering CAD system.
• Facilitate equipment outsourcing.
• Ensure effective documentation and control systems are developed, utilized, and maintained.
• Prepare and make presentations to customers, employees, and all levels of the management team.
• Participate in a teamwork approach to achieving goals with particular emphasis on DCP and AQP activities.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and support to manufacturing teams as well as peers.
• Use of required PPE; following safety rules and procedures and training others; compliance with plant code of conduct.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Prefer Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical field from a four-year college or university or equivalency (as determined by a combination of education, training and experience).
• 7 years Design experience.
• Must be available to travel 2-5 days/month with minimal notification.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes pertinent to our operation.
• Good understanding of quality systems.
• A strong knowledge and skills base in the following: Tool & fixture design; Computer Aided Drafting (CAD); machine controls; automation design & application; economics & cost analysis; ergonomics; Statistical Process Control (SPC); and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Good Communication (verbal and written) skills for both internal and external customers.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong organization skills.
• Strong project management skills (gantt and PERT charts).
• Strong problem solving skills (DOE, Painters chart, Fish Bone).
• The ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
• The ability to facilitate open and effective communications.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety systems and procedures.
• Knowledge of the automotive industry and customers.
