What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at ESRO Food Group?

Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for purchasing goods and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Responsibility includes but not limited to the cost-effective procurement of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services used by the company for their specified location.

Essential Functions

· Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.

· Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.

· Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.

· Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.

· Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.

· Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred

· Two (2) years of experience in accounting, office administration preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Supervision Exercised

· None. Reports to the Purchasing Manager.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for typing, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
