GENERAL FUNCTION
Perform a variety of complex installation, trouble shooting, repair and preventative maintenance duties required to maintain all production equipment and plant facilities in serviceable and efficient operating condition.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate with mechanics and operators on previous shift and discuss problems and concerns. Locate and diagnose complex equipment problems and ensure timely corrective action. Inform supervisor of need for major repairs.
- General knowledge of automation technologies; controllers, Ethernet/IP networks, HMI, PLCs, etc.
- Disassemble machines, repair or replace defective part and reassemble.
- Ensure effective department communication through sharing of technical expertise.
- Setup and operate a variety of maintenance shop tools and equipment to make or repair parts as directed or required.
- Calibrate and adjust equipment as required or scheduled.
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment as scheduled.
- Recommend design changes and incorporate approved recommendations into existing manufacturing equipment.
- Assist in the set-up and installation of production equipment ensuring the proper safety, preventative maintenance and minor repair of production machinery and support equipment.
- Provide technical expertise and support on special projects as required.
- Maintain necessary records. Report improper operation of faulty equipment and unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe and orderly working condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Maintain quality standards.
- Is an active member of department and facility teams. Actively participates and shares knowledge with team members and other teams. Challenges the team with new ideas and models good work habits. Attends and participates in internal team meetings. Supports the success of the team and takes initiative and responsibility to ensure the team’s goals and objectives are met. Helps others to achieve and succeed with team objectives and supports the growth and development of his/her team.
- Supports the facility’s policies and procedures and is responsible for a healthy and safe team environment.
- Takes pride and ownership in his/her own work, the facility and the team area.
- Serves as a training resource.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education equivalent to an accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade or occupation or equivalent to a 2-year technical college education and/or 8 years maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance environment required.
- Basic proficiency in computers required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Exposure to computerized maintenance management systems a plus
