Job Title: Process Safety Champion Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 6 Months role
The Process Safety Champion will play a lead in the identification and assessment of Process Safety risks for the site as well as the Annual Process Safety Programme. They will review and report progress to the relevant site forum i.e. EHS Council as well as to other appropriate stakeholders. The Process Safety Champion will continue to the development of others by training, coaching and/or mentoring others. They will also provide expert support to audits and inspections.
Main Responsibilities/Keys: The principal deliverables of the holder / and its scope
Train personnel as well as contractors on Process Safety.
Ownership of the Process Safety curriculum in My Learning.
Ownership of the Process Safety Programme and Process Safety Performance Indicators.
Present the progress of the Process Safety Programme at the relevant for a i.e. EHS councils.
Review planed changes, Project URS and ensure process security risks are identified and appropriately assessed.
Coordinate and/or lead process safety GEMBAs and PHIRA studies i.e. HAZID, HAZOP/What-If, MEIRA,PSSR, etc.
Track through to completion the implementation of mitigation actions defined for plant Process Security scenarios or risks.
Using GPS techniques i.e. RCA, lead the investigation of near misses and HiPo incidents.
Ensure that process safety documentation, including PHIRA studies, mitigation and control measures, Basis of Safety, ALARPs, etc. are up-to-date.
Ensure that the site's HAC study is up-to-date and reviewed in its entirety at least every 5 years as set forth in GES 106.
Perform the review of hazardous plant processes (PHR) at least every 5 years.
Keep gap analyses of EHS and GES standards applicable to process safety in the plant up-to-date, in accordance with the latest issued versions.
Represent the site in the Regional Process Security Practice Communities.
Generate annual program progress report, and include it in the plant's annual EHS report.
Knowledge/Education/Experience Required
Minimum education level:
Area of expertise: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial.
Preferred education level:
Area of expertise: Further Professional Development in Process Safety.
Minimum level of experience required:
Ability to analyze processes and technical information and deduce or identify risks.
Person with good communication capacity and influence, ability to train groups and develop action plans and follow up..
Person with a firm character, able to raise his voice and stop any activity that is not done safely.
