The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for tasks that ensure smooth pati ent access and fl ow.Responsibiliti es include recording pati ent informati on such as vital signs, weight and changes in medicalhistory, preparing items necessary for the visit like consents and special equipment, and assisti ng theprovider during the examinati ons.
Follows standardized procedures for giving injecti ons to pati ents. Keeps the offi ce running smoothlyby answering phones, greeti ng pati ents, updati ng medical charts and records, handles pre-authorizati onprocess, matches pati ents’ insurance informati on with correct provider for the services needed, and orderslaboratory services.
The Medical Assistant provides updates to the staff and pati ents on ti ming and statusfor all the above tasks and ensures even pati ent fl ow and conti nuous communicati on within andreferring physician offi ces.
Protects pati ent confi denti ality and follows procedures for handling confidential informati on. Performs other duti es as assigned.
Required :
Two plus years in healthcare-related fi eld and minimum of two years previous experience within an acute healthcare system environment
Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred :
Working Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system EMR’
Qualified bilingual or multi lingual candidates
