Job Description:
Leading the companies revenue accounting activities in a newly formed organization the senior revenue accounting professional would be expected to work in conjunction with the CFO and the controller to form the revenue accounting function, its processes, policies and controls in alignment with the company’s business goals and in accordance to finance best practices. The revenue accountant will take leading part in the future organizational development, recruitment of the revenue accounting professionals and implementations of systems and tools (e.g., ERP) to ensure effective operations of the revenue accounting function.
The Senior Revenue Accountant is responsible for reviewing complex contracts for proper revenue recognition as well as revenue reporting. The position will help with contract review, revenue-related financial statement disclosures, system implementation, control execution, and audits. The position collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Customer Success, and Operations regularly.
The Senior Revenue Accountant will:
- Ensure all revenue is recognized in compliance with US GAAP, ASC 606
- Review complex customer contracts to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with US GAAP, ASC 606 and internal policies.
- Coordinate with the Deal Desk on any non-standard contracts.
- Communicate the expected revenue recognition to the sales and operations teams based on the customer contract
- Be a key point person for providing business value added insights and a thought partner to help scale the revenue operations and quote to cash process.
- Proactively identify areas of operational improvement and exhibit a willingness to collaborate cross functionally.
- Responsible for various areas of monthly close including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and contract costs.
- Provide variance analysis for major deferred revenue accounts
- Support external audits and quarterly reviews
- Ad hoc projects, financial statement review, and technical accounting research.
Professional Skill Requirements:
- 5 years of public or private experience with a strong background in ASC606
- Technical knowledge of US GAAP with a specific focus on the accurate recognition of revenue in accordance with US GAAP, ASC606
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences in different functions and geographic locations).
- Experience with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and complex excel formulas
- Understanding of systems including Salesforce
- Individual must be highly motivated and able to work with tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Undergraduate and/or Graduate Degree in Accounting
- CPA is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
