What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drayage Dispatcher position at Etransport Carriers?
Drayage dispatcher
- Mainly schedule containers pickup and delivery
- Check drivers in and out of yard assigning them loads in order of importance.
- Give and receive driver paperwork.
- Enter information in yard management system
- Communicate with customer to arrange shipments to be picked up and delivered.
- At times, make changes to the routes throughout the day as dictated by customer requests and shipment arrangements.
- Solve problems with the port and shipping lines if drivers have trouble getting the containers.
- Communicate with personnel about the living loading and unloading for OTR trucks.
- Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective β
- Monitor drivers productivity and push them to be efficient.
Requirements:
- Have knowledge and experiences of the port dispatch.
- Communication skills with drivers and team members.
- Familiar with the terminal websites
- Understand LRD empties and LFD import loads to minimize the costs on Per Diem and Demurrage
- Prior trucking experience is often preferred, such knowledge of driving and Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
- Computer skills: Email, Excel and GPS monitoring programs.
