Position: Early Preschool Head Teacher (ages 2.5-3.5 years)

Job Type: Full-time hourly, permanent, year-around

Hours: Full-time, 8hrs /day between 7:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday (must have Monday through Friday availability)

Wages: $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr (depending on education and experience) Paid Vacation Several Paid Holidays Generous Child Care Discount

Job Duties:

A Head Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, planning and coordinating the classroom center enhancements & curriculum, managing the day-to-day operational activities of the program, and upholding the mission and philosophy of Eugene Creative Care. The Teacher will:

  • Understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
  • Uphold high quality health and safety standards associated with Eugene Creative Care, Early Learning Division (ELD), sanitation and fire agencies.
  • Use well developed interpersonal communication and organizational skills in order to meet the diverse needs of children, families, school personnel, teachers, volunteers and affiliates of Eugene Creative Care.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree/Masters degree or 2 years of experience preferred.

1. Central Background Registry (CBR) background check with the Office of Child Care prior to job offer ( https://oregonearlylearning.com/providers-educators/providers-educatorscbr/ )

2. Documentation proving you meet the Child Care Head Teacher requirements for certified centers by meeting ONE OR MORE of the following requirements:

➔ At least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of Preschool‐age children

➔ A one year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool‐age care

➔ Associate’s Degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in: Early childhood education, Child development, or a related degree

➔ Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in: Early childhood education, Child development, Elementary education, or Special education

➔ Documentation of attaining at least step 8.5 (eight.five) in the Oregon Registry

➔ At least one year as a teacher in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program in the care of Preschool children. Must be combined with completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in the care of Preschool‐age children.

3. You will also need to obtain and maintain the following safety set requirements. These training certificates MUST BE submitted to ORO and also to our ECC office.

➔ Documentation of enrollment in the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) through Portland State. ORO Step Level certificate required.

➔ Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety Training (ICCHS)

➔ Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training (RRCAN)

➔ Food Handlers Certificate (obtain within 30 days of hire)

➔ Infant/Child & Adult CPR/First Aid Training (obtain within 90 days of hire)

➔ Prevention is Better than Treatment Training (PBTT)

➔ Infant Safe Sleep Training (obtain prior to starting if working with ages 0-2)

➔ Foundations of Learning Training (obtain within 90 days of hire)

➔ 15 hours or more of Annual Professional Development Trainings per year (see your ORO account and ELD requirements for more information)
