The Global Head Scientific Affairs interacts with Clients, Business Development, Proposal Development and Scientific/Laboratory Operations with the aim to deliver accurate information regarding the scientific and technical aspects of proposal for our clients, define and drive scientific development strategies for the business(s), act as a consultant with internal teams and clients, contributes to the overall success of the business unit by ensuring proper scientific approach and design is adapted in our services. S/he exchanges information with relevant stakeholders (internal/external), documents existing and needed capabilities and proposes qualified solutions to client issues. S/he acts as an internal consultant to operational scientific affair teams, providing guidance on methodologies, trouble-shooting, new technologies and process. Acts a mentor in development of scientists and junior leaders in the business(s). S/he will define and drive regulatory, technology and science strategies for the business, with support from the relevant business unit departments.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for helping to develop key scientific and technology strategies for the business units.
As required, manages and is accountable for departmental operations. If required, supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel to efficiently handle the day to day workload.
As required, Monitors the overall performance of employees. Assists in the preparation and delivery of annual and interim performance evaluations.
Supports operational and scientific staff in the development and evaluation of new products and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Provides leadership for the establishment, monitoring, and analysis of departmental process.
Attends and contributes to operational and scientific meetings and as necessary conducts regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
Reviews, interprets and monitors compliance with pertinent scientific guidance and regulation documents.
Interacts with Client audits and regulatory agencies as needed.
Provide and update analysis information to include cost, feasibility, TAT and methodology to meet tight turnaround times during bidding process.
Direct and ensure oversight of RFP projects from beginning to end with respect to Scientific Affairs.
Communicate effectively with Laboratory Management to ensure client testing needs are met from bid to awarded study.
Provide recommendations for in-house vs. outsourced testing capabilities and relevant process changes to Laboratory Management in order to enhance operating and financial performance.
Identify appropriate referral labs as needed and obtaining relevant information needed to support clinical trials. Communicate the use of a referral lab to QA allowing adequate time for QA qualification.
Interface with the Proposal Development department with suggestions on optimizing process.
Attend client meetings as needed to support sales.
Attend and represent the business(s) at relevant scientific conferences
Work with Operational Scientific Affairs teams to develop and execute a publication and presentation strategy
Dialogue with client as requested determining whether additional support is required.
Reviews client protocols and provides synopses to ensure the proposals meet the testing needs of the client.
Develop and foster internal relationships across the organization, collaborating with the finance, business development, quality, information technology, and PMs as necessary to achieve organization goals.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations as necessary.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the Scientific Affairs team.
May complete additional tasks as delegated
Position Specifications and Job Requirements
Experience
Minimum 5 years in a Bioanalytical and/or Specialty laboratory related to the space.
Experience with method development, validation/qualification regulations and approach
Experience navigating and interpreting clinical protocols
Experience with proposal development
Experience with client communication and consultation
Experience in both the Large molecule and Small Molecule space preferred, with an emphasis on Cell and Gene Technologies.
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree
Degree in Medical Technology or Life Sciences preferred
PhD level preferred
Other

Fluent in English
Able to work in a fast paced, mixed office and lab environment.
