Director, Accounting

We’re based in beautiful Scotts Valley, CA adjacent to Silicon Valley.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll and taxes
• Lead year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements that will allow Zero to scale its operations in the US and internationally
• Prepare, review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Implement accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental, financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP while supporting efficient business operation
• Monitor and evaluate accounting systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization and engage cross-functionally to implement it
• Oversee equity administration
• Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
• Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
• Develop staff by setting goals, providing ongoing coaching, managing performance and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
• Will be the technical GAAP subject matter expert on most complex/critical areas
  
  

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 10 years of progressive accounting experience with 3 years in a supervisory role
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Preferred:
• EV and/or manufacturing industry experience
• SAP experience
• Start-up experience
• CPA designation

• Candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time to perform duties, and to move around and make inquiries from other staff, management as needed.
• Must be able to bend or stoop down to access files, including lifting of items or objects up to 10 lbs.
