What You Will Do
As a Simulation Engineer you will play a crucial role in developing simulation technologies in the Complete Vehicle organization to improve our products and processes. With data and virtual tools, you will accelerate product development timelines and secure products that meet the needs of our customers. You will develop methods and tools to bring data and operative intelligence to development teams to improve our products.
You will work in a state-of-the-art research and development organization dedicated to providing high-tech transportation solutions primarily to the North American market. The position entails a high level of collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams working on future products, analyzing complex systems, ensuring functional requirements are met by providing design recommendations, and correlating full-vehicle digital twins to physical testing.

What You Will Do

You will work in a state-of-the-art research and development organization dedicated to providing high-tech transportation solutions primarily to the North American market. The position entails a high level of collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams working on future products, analyzing complex systems, ensuring functional requirements are met by providing design recommendations, and correlating full-vehicle digital twins to physical testing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain digital twin models that represent the physical counterparts of vehicles and vehicle components and ensure that they are accurate and up to date by integrating real-time data and feedback from physical systems.
- Contribute to advanced simulation methodologies for use in alternative powertrain systems including Fuel Cell, Battery Electric Vehicles, and hydrogen internal combustion.
- Support modeling and simulations of fuel consumption, energy efficiency, and range to meet Product and Brand targets.
- Work cross-functionally with the Complete Vehicle and Vehicle Technology teams to improve correlation between simulation and physical verification of complete vehicle systems.
- Develop and validate models to simulate real-world customer applications.
- Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to improve simulation and testing by utilizing advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and natural language processing tools such as ChatGPT.
- Integrate simulation models with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) systems.
- Drive projects to utilize simulation, advanced analytics, and machine learning on vehicle simulation and test data to provide actionable intelligence for product improvements.
- Make meaningful interpretations, recommendations and predictions from data collected throughout the product life cycle to support our endeavor in moving towards data-driven development.
- Translate findings into engineering presentations that effectively communicate solutions.
- Coordinate with the global simulation community on developing and improving quality and effectiveness of best practices, tools, and methods.

- Ability to leverage analytical and quantitative skills to use simulation and data to back up assumptions, compare against physics-based models and physical verification, and complete root cause analysis.
- Passion for working with advanced technologies.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in the automotive or transportation industry. Heavy duty vehicle experience is preferred.
- Experience with or knowledge of vehicle simulation and analysis methods and tools (including MatLab, Simulink, Python, ANSYS, etc…) with a passion to learn.
- Understanding of AI and machine learning techniques for data analysis, and the ability to apply statistical methods to extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
- Knowledge of advanced powertrain technology preferred.
