Job Title: Float Teller
Department: Retail Banking
Reports To: AVP, Branch Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for receiving and paying out money, and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties. The Float Teller is also responsible for meeting the needs of customers and providing quality service. The Float Teller will work with the Retail Banking team, at all locations, in attaining branch goals and constantly striving to improve the profitability of each branch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greeting customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Process deposits, withdrawals and other financial transactions for accuracy
- Providing customers with information on products and services offered by the bank
- Assisting customers with account inquiries and problem resolution
- Adhering to all bank policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
- Maintaining a clean and organizing work area including lobby area
- Collaborating with other bank employees to ensure excellent customer service
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills
- Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, and check accuracy of deposit slips.
- Enter customers' transactions into computers to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.
- Cash handling and balance cash drawers and calculate daily transactions using computers.
- Answer basic customer service inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Examine checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents.
- Receive and count daily inventories of cash and coins.
- Prepare and verify cashier's checks.
- Refer customers to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs.
- Maintain customer lobby by periodically stocking waters and teas, straightening-up lounge area and making coffee.
- Ensure operational integrity through compliance with all policies, procedures and regulations.
Qualifications

- Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Knowledge of Jack Henry SilverLake preferred.
- Knowledge of Salesforce
- Basic understanding of mathematics.
- Preferred cash handling experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including proper phone etiquette.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment when issues arise.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Display a highly professional image.
- Maintain a high level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to other branch locations as needed.
- Ability to proactively assist customers and build relationships.
- Ability to genuinely engage customers in conversation while providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to actively listen by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling bank products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques.
