Overview
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to take a key role in the accounting activities for our multi-entity Holding Company. The Senior Accountant's responsibilities will include preparing financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, owning the monthly/quarterly accounting close, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with tax and audit preparations.
We are looking for an analytical, self-motivated, individual who is experienced in accounting and financial analysis with ability to work in a high-growth, dynamic environment. This role will report to the Director of Accounting and Corporate Controller at Evergreen.
Responsibilities
- Handle accounting activities for all holding company entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage and accurately complete the financial month/quarter-end accounting close process.
- Lead the month-end close process. Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts, including intercompany, to the general ledger.
- Monthly Holding Company close, including working with the Holding Company teams to review expense accruals, and reporting of Holding Company performance with variance analysis.
- Maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Manage the accounts payable function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies.
- Manage the end-to-end process of accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to both tax regulations and established policies and procedures.
- Implement internal controls to mitigate financial and compliance risks associated with accounts payable processes.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify discrepancies, maintaining the integrity of financial records.
- Foster positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly to ensure a smooth and collaborative payment process while adhering to tax and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with the tax advisors to provide comprehensive financial information, supporting the preparation of tax returns and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Assist with audit preparation and audit requests.
- Lead all administrative tasks for accounting and finance organization.
- Drive process improvement and assist with miscellaneous projects, compliance tasks and other ad-hoc accounting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function, implementing changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Key contributor in major accounting team projects across Evergreen (e.g. system migrations, streamlining processes/controls, compliance with new accounting guidance, metrics tracking, etc.)
- Manage and accurately complete financial analytics.
Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in accounting or related field, with a solid understanding of US GAAP, preferably in Financial Services or IT space.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in month-end close, creating journal entries and working with general ledger software.
- Experience with our core financial portfolio systems a plus – QuickBooks, Bill.com, Expensify, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, and Power BI
- Ability to identify issues, flag to management, and participate in timely and appropriate research and resolution.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports. Can present financial information in a logical manner.
- Experience supporting financial audits and tax requirements.
- Progress toward CPA desired or other professional designation is a plus.

Other Information
- This role is primarily remote (preference for those around Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH)
- Quarterly travel to our HQ in San Francisco is required
- The salary range for this role is $110K - $120K base up to a 20% bonus
