SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

JOB TITLE: Application Developer II

DEPARTMENT: Customer Systems Support – Topeka General Office or Kansas City Headquarters
LOCATION: Topeka, KS
Kansas City, MO
PAY RANGE: $67,500 - $84,400

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required). This role will be a combination of remote and in office work, with the ability to attend meetings on-site as appropriate. Candidates who are performing work remotely must live in Kansas or Missouri.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in analysis, coding and testing of programming changes to resolve application issues and provide new business functions.
  • Collaborate with developers and business users to translate business requirements into technical design and test plan objectives for business solutions.
  • Contribute to successful completion of tasks to meet project goals.
  • Perform code deployment and change control documentation for incident resolution or application modifications using established standards to ensure compliance with IT standards and policies.
  • Develop and maintain application software and integration documentation to ensure alignment, security and performance of application software solutions.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent relevant experience). Typically has 2-4 years relevant IT experience.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
The ideal candidate will have intermediate experience in application development, business process and design and familiar with application software solutions, business functions and application integration principles.

Functional Knowledge:
  • Always work to maintain a high-level of customer satisfaction.
  • Seeks and identifies appropriate solutions to problems.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Use personal initiative and knowledge of application development to create technical specifications and develop solutions
  • Basic familiarity with workstations, networks and operating systems including Windows 10 and MS Office.
  • Establish cooperative relationships with members of technical teams, business support teams and end users.
  • Working knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL.
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Java.
  • Working knowledge with Source Control tools and best practices.
  • Working knowledge with reporting tools and platforms.
  • Working knowledge with of Agile methodology and tools.
  • Knowledge of Web Services, XML, JSON or any Object-Oriented Language.

Working Conditions: Provide support for application software solutions that are available 24x7. Must be able to work outside traditional business hours as required..
