Description
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Review plans to see if structural support is required including wind/seismic loads.
- Work with Quote/Estimator on designs to determine if support is needed and come up with a list of structural materials required for pricing.
- Work with outside sources such as Architects and Structural Engineers to develop a design that works with site conditions.
- Act as the liaison between sales and purchasing to provide cost effective structural drawings.
- Prepare reports detailing structural designs, including materials used, load bearing capacity, and construction methods used.
- Create drawings that show how each element of a structure will be constructed and how it will be assembled with other elements.
- Calculate the amount of material needed to build structures according to specifications.
- Create drawings for Vendors to fabricate materials for structural design along with making sure the design is understood before fabrication begins.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, etc.:
- CAD Software:
- AutoCAD
- Inventor/Revit
- Communication Skills: Will Communicate with several people throughout the process including outside Designers, Suppliers, Contractors and internal employees.
- Problem Solving skills: Help find solutions to simple walk-in applications to complicated structures that may be interior in design or deal with outside elements.
