Job Description
What Does a Senior Medical Editor Do?
The Senior Medical Editor is responsible for a range of editorial services, including medical editing, copyediting, proofreading, and fact checking of digital and print pharmaceutical advertising materials, internal and external presentations, and corporate communications. The Senior Medical Editor represents the outlook, needs and requirements of the editorial competency to teammates in other company departments, and has ownership of all projects in an assigned portfolio.

Responsibilities:
- Edit for language clarity and consistency, brand and messaging accuracy, correct balance, appropriate tone, overall cohesiveness, flow, organization, style, grammar, spelling, typographical errors and formatting
- Fact check materials to ensure comprehensive and accurate support for claims
- Participate in development phase to initiate consistency in content and layout
- Participate in the content review process throughout all stages of a job: review content of each project for spelling, grammar, clarity, fulfillment of creative brief, correct client and AMA style, and appropriate and accurate referencing
- Follow up with Creative, Copywriters and Account on content revisions as needed
- Interface with Creative, Account, Project Management and other teammates to assist in project prioritization and increase ease of project completion as needed
- Resolve questions on project details with Account and/or Project Management independently
- Represent department at internal kickoff and status meetings
- Ensure all pieces are compliant with each client’s unique medical/regulatory/legal requirements
- Develop and maintain style guides for clients and brands
- Train and mentor junior team members as needed
- Lead or co-lead team initiatives, including creation of best practice and process documentation toward upholding quality and efficiency standards
- Alert Editorial Directors to editorial process and/or quality concerns, and work closely with them and other teammates to address issues as they arise
Qualifications
What Are We Looking For?
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education plus professional experience) required
- 5 years of editing experience in the healthcare and/or pharmaceutical industry required. At least 1 year of experience in the advertising and/or marketing industry preferred
- Thorough knowledge of AMA (10th edition) style and familiarity with AP style; experience with medical/regulatory/legal reviews; familiarity with FDA requirements for drug promotion
- Ability to understand medical/scientific terminology
- Extremely detail oriented, thorough and accurate
- Proven experience managing rapidly shifting priorities and deadlines in high-pressure situations
- Ability to take ownership, be accountable and work independently
- Digitally savvy with excellent verbal, written, organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work and edit within Microsoft Office suite of products as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional

EVERSANA is committed to providing competitive salaries and benefits for all employees. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $111,000 and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). EVERSANA reserves the right to modify this base salary range at any time.
